Ignition Trigger coil?
02/07/10 at 4:51pm

Tried to take my girls riding on Saturday.  Started the Ski-doo Legend 380F up just fine.  Loaded it on the trailer and then unloaded fine too.  Hit the RER push button one last time to pull the sled forward away from the trail and when the motor wound down it never restarted.

I spent the better part of Saturday trying to figure out what is wrong with it and still don't have a clue.  The only thing I did find was that the ignition trigger coil has a resistance of 143 ohms.  According to Ski-Doo it should be between 165-180 ohms.  I'm going to replace it just beacuse I can't figure anything else out.  I really hope it's not the CDI box ($385 new).

Anyone else has this happen before?  I hear when the ignition coils go they don't give a warning, but wow, that was sudden!

Ready for this one....the magnets on the flywheel broke free and stuck to the madneto.  Of course the flywheel ground them to dust as it rotated through.  Now I have to buy a new flywheel at a cost of $300+.  Sheeez!

I never would have guessed that one!

We used a friends John Deere gator for trail marking last fall and had the same thing happen, it had a Kawi 4-stroke twin, $300.00 for new flywheel, luckily it did not hurt the coils. Had trouble starting a couple of times, seemed like the motor had locked up. The last time we did not turn off till we got home and then it would not start again. Sad
