Another good day around Chautauqua lake
03/01/10 at 4:53pm

Went down to the SureFine in Cassadaga and unloaded around 8:15. Started out and found most trails freshly groomed and ready to ride. Headed towards Cherry Creek but found C1C closed due to logging and ice. We circled back and decided to head towards Mayville. We got into Mayville, started out onto the lake to head for Bemus but the snow was too deep with a fair amount of slush underneath, neither of which made for good riding. We went around and headed to Bemus where we stopped for Lunch. We then went towards Cherry Creek with a stop at the Trillium for a refreshment. While there I ran into a friend I haven't seen in 5 years or so so we hooked up with him and his bud to finish the day off heading back to the truck. Thanks to all the groomers the trails were in great shape in almost all areas. Just for a heads up, Can't remember where we were but we rounded a corner to find a salt and pepper colored bird dog sitting along the trail with a similar colored friend. It looked as if they were waiting for their master or just taking a well needed break. I slowed to a crawl to pass giving them lots of room so I didn't clip a tail (Tom likes to do this with squirrels) and to my surprise they were just there laying low just waiting to get a taste of ankle from an expecting sledder. Well They decided to chase us 50 or so feet before giving up to wait for the next victim. So sledders beware their not just cute tired out doggies on the side of the trail, their the nastiest mouth drooling killers this side of Cassadaga waiting for a piece of your ankle. Cheesy
