BONUS!
What a season, huh? Amazing snow, awesome trails, great grooming! Who could ask
for more? Maybe a longer season, but noted by the vast majority of riders, this was the
best season in memory. We hope you got to ride and put on as many miles as you
could!
If you still have Super Raffle tickets, the stubs and money need to be turned in at the
April Club Meeting. If you are unable to make it to that meeting, please call Gary at
807-7002 to make arrangements to turn in the tickets and money.
March 28th, the Club, the Shawnee VFC and the Shawnee Ladies Auxilliary will be
hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt at 2 P.M. All children age 0 – 12 are welcome. We
do need some volunteers to help out making candy bags, hiding eggs, supervising, etc.
If you can help, please give Stacey a call at 799-9071.
The 9th Annual Club Landowner Dinner will be on April 24th. Drinks at 5 p.m., dinner
at 6:30 p.m. This is always a good time, with a wonderful roast turkey and all the
fixings dinner in honor of those landowners that allow us to use their property for
snowmobile trails. Please come out and help us say thank you. Dinner for nonlandowners
is only $10 per person. We always have lots of great giveaways for
landowners and members. If you can come, please RSVP to Gary at 731-1719 by April
19th.
The club would like to thank those members that contributed so much to the club and
club activities this year. Thanks go out to Lonnie Daigler for heading up the Sno-Drags
again this year-it was an enormous success! Thanks to Pete York for organizing and
running the Club Dice Run – Over 80 riders participated! And also, Pete organized the
‘End of Season’ Bonfire-which was very well attended. Thanks to all those that helped
out on these events by contributing supplies and/or their time. You folks are the ones
that make our club stand out inNewYork State!

Shawnee Field Days will be changed this year to a one day event on June 27th due to the
inability to get a ‘Carnival Ride’ Company to commit. We are waiting for word from the
Fire Company on what they will need from us-especially for volunteers. Please check
out our Facebook Page as time draws nearer. This is a big fundraiser for the Fire
Company and they can always use our help to put it on.
We need help in the Ransomville, Wilson and Newfane areas to establish or re-establish
trails. This requires face to face interaction with landowners and getting permission
from them, the club will help mark and will maintain the trail, but people that know the
landowners makes it far easier to get permission for trails. For more information and
materials, please contact Pete at 628-4841.
Our new website is up and running. Check it out at ! Thank to Lonnie
Daigler and the Committee for making this happen! We are also converting our
F a c e b o o k G r o u p t o f i t t h e n e e d s o f t h e w e b s i t e . V i s i t
and ‘Like’ us. We will be shutting
down the old ‘Group’ page eventually.
After a review of dates available for our Grass Drags, we will be staying with our
traditional last Saturday of September (September 26, 2015) for our 17th Annual
Snowmobile Grass Drags/ATV&Motorcycle Races/Swapmeet and Vendor Expo. Plan to
spend a day racing with us-same cash payouts as last year. Vendor spaces available for
$25. The Steering Committee will start meeting in July-keep an eye on our website
and/or Facebook page for more information. If you have ideas on how to improve the
drags or if you have additional fundraising ideas, please call Gary at 807-7002.
We are looking for ideas to raise funds-we had a catastrophic failure of hydraulic
systems on our BR-160 Trail Groomer. Costs estimates for repair are anywhere from
$10K – $35K. Once we find out the extent of damage, we will have to make a decision on
repairing or replacing. Either way, it will cost us a fair amount of money as we are still
paying off the BR-180 unit. Out annual Trail Grant is approx. $15K which won’t cover
repairs and/or building trails. Bottom line? We need to find ways to raise money. If
you have ideas, please give Brent a call at 523-2320.
The New York State Snowmobile Association will be hosting a gathering of
representatives from all snowmobiling states, all Canadian Provinces, Russia and some
European countries at the International Snowmobile Congress (ISC) 2015 to be held at
the Niagara Falls Conference and Event Center, June 10-13, 2014. If you are interested
in attending, please go to for more info and registration. As the
closest club, we will be helping NYSSA make this event a success. If you can help out by
volunteering some time, please call Gary at 807-7002.
